Eden and ICAA shared each other's work experiences

ICAA, IOV Taiwan made an in-kind donation of 60 sets of its {Taiwan World Culture Showcase} series on the “World Music Festival on Drum & Dance” to Eden Social Welfare Foundation on January 22, 2010, for its philanthropy use as world culture education materials at the island-wide New Immigration Development Centers and cooperated remote elementary schools under its Elephant Circle Project.  More than hundred thousands of new immigrants and students in remote communities around Taiwan will have the chance to appreciate the diversified drum music and art of the world as the people living in Taipei City.

The well reputed Eden Social Welfare Foundation was founded by wheelchair writer Ms. Liu Hsia in 1982.  Starting with two part-time employees, nowadays Eden has a staff of over 1,200, about 40 percent of which are handicapped people.  Eden provides “comprehensive human care” to people with disability, deprived students in remote communities and new immigrants (foreign spouses), including vocational training, employment service, rehabilitation, early intervention, long-term care service, and community reconstruction for disaster victims.

We hope those DVDs (four DVDs in one set) which compiled the brilliant performances of drum, dance and music by 20 international and local cultural groups from ten countries will broaden those remote students and new immigrants’ view on the cultural diversity of the world, and with the power of Drum & Dance to encourage people to believe in hopes and a harmonious society on mutual understanding.
