Folk Song – The Song of People "Folk songs" are transmitted from generation to generation, and are constantly recreated by people in response to their environment, their interaction with nature, and their historical conditions of existence. They are preserved by oral transmission and are modified through time by collective recreation and improvisation of people. They reflect the feeling, affection, life style, and cultural significance of different peoples around the world.
Folk Song – The Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity The oral and intangible cultural heritage has gained international recognition as a vital factor in cultural identity, promotion of creativity and the preservation of cultural diversity of humanity. It plays an essential role in national and international development, tolerance and harmonious interaction among cultures. It is manifested in the following domains: oral traditions and expressions, including languages as a vehicle of the intangible cultural heritage; performing arts; social practices, rituals and festival events; knowledge and practices concerning nature and the universe; traditional craftsmanship.
Folk Song - Sounds of the Nature; Rhythms of Labor; Messenger of Love There are several sayings about the originality of folk songs, including imitation of the sounds of the great nature; communication with people in distance, such as talking in high voice to people across the mountains or river; working rhythms of labors, such as yelling of the boatmen and porters; love songs to attract the beloved; songs to express feelings; praying from religious rituals; and expressive tones of spoken languages, etc.
