鼓樂是人聲之外，人類最原始的樂音，有人說它來自人的心跳，身體的自然節奏，大自然的律動，也因此世界各地都存在不同的鼓樂節奏和律動。音樂節結合撼動人心的鼓樂及感動人心的音樂舞蹈，希望以最自然真實的「鼓」「舞」藝術的力量，「鼓舞」大眾相信自己、相信希望，更能以積極樂觀和熱情的態度來關懷週遭的人事物，如同每一位在舞台上散發人生熱力的表演者。

今年為「世界鼓舞音樂節」第五年辦理，非常感謝「新光三越信義新天地」的持續支持，讓音樂節得以逐步成長，也讓虛擬空間【台灣世界文化館】的名聲逐年傳播至國際間，在世界文化走進來的同時，也讓台灣迎向世界。今年在音樂節表演及講座活動之外，也將以影像回顧過去幾年最受歡迎的演出團體和令人難忘的經典畫面。另外，與「台北市牙醫師公會」合作的「護牙護芽•送愛到偏鄉」計畫，也要將「世界鼓舞音樂節」歷年演出的紀念光碟，分送至全省偏遠地區的學校，希望將台北市豐富的文化教育資源及「鼓舞」的力量，傳送到台灣不同的角落。更要感謝許多單位和朋友的支持，讓「鼓舞」的力量和熱情持續的擴散，營造你我心中的美麗世界。

The grand opening of the A9 Building of Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Hsinyi Branch had prompted the first edition of "International Festival of Drum & Dance" in December, 2003. We can see the growth of the Festival from the initial regular performances in 18 days, to five grand evening concerts; from mainly drum shows to the fusion of percussion, dance and world music performances; from the randomly come and go shoppers to a warm audience composed of families and music lovers over these four years. Meanwhile, it has made the venue, one of the most animated districts in Taipei Metropolitan into a space of cultural magnet to the general public as a cultural outreach challenge.

The beat of drum was considered as the most original music on the earth next to the human voice. It was said that it comes from the human heartbeats, the natural rhythm of human body, and the sounds of the great nature. Therefore, there are all kinds of drum beats and rhythms to be found all over the world. The TWCS World Music Festival on Drum & Dance presents the brilliant performances of drums, dance and world music in order to encourage people to believe in hopes, and to promote the mutual caring among people with the power of drum and dance, as the name of "Gu Wu" in Chinese.

This year is the 5th edition of the Festival. We are very grateful to SKM Hsinyi Branch for its continuous support to this Festival, because it also gives the chance to build the name and reputation of our virtual space "Taiwan World Culture Showcase" (TWCS) on the international arena over these years. In addition to the Main Stage program and the Music Box, there will be a photo exhibition on the most memorable groups and performance shots in the past years around the Main Stage area. Furthermore, we are able to distribute the series of DVDs from the past years to remote schools and communities around Taiwan in cooperation with the Taipei Dental Association, a joint project to spread the rich cultural and educational resources of Taipei and the power of "Gu Wu" to different corners on the island. We also want to give our thanks to the many institutions and friends for their support and contribution to the growth of the Festival, to create a more harmonious and progressive society altogether.
